On behalf of the National Institute of Technology Srinagar (J&K), I am delighted to introduce you to this premier technical institute of national importance. Our Institute was established in 1960 by the Government of India as one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs). Over the past 6 decades, this Institute has consistently strived to deliver quality education, focusing on technical advancements and research.
At NIT Srinagar, we offer a comprehensive selection of educational programs, including B. Tech. courses in 08 engineering disciplines. In addition, we provide 11 M.Tech. programs, along with M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Chemistry, MTIEM, MBA, and PhD programs. Admissions are granted through prestigious entrance examinations such as JEE, DASA, and GATE, ensuring that we admit talented and promising students every year.
The diverse range of educational programs and opportunities are carried out by the dynamic mix of faculty members at NIT Srinagar. Our faculty members, in addition to their teaching responsibilities, actively engage in national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and other research-related activities, thus fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
This commitment to academic excellence has resulted in NIT Srinagar being honoured with the 82nd rank in the Engineering category of NIRF India Rankings 2023, solidifying our position among the top institutions in the country. Additionally, we have secured the 8th position in the DataQuest Ranking of Top T-Schools in India 2023, showcasing our dedication to providing quality technical education. Furthermore, we are proud to announce that in the Times Higher Education Ranking (THE), 2023 edition, we have achieved an impressive 36th rank globally.
Carrying the flame of this rich heritage and commitment to excellence, our Department of Training and Placement plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students and providing them with ample opportunities to pursue their desired careers. We maintain strong relationships with both national and multinational companies, as well as reputed Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), who regularly visit our campus for recruitment.
