Central Workshop at NIT Srinagar is a central facility equipped with modern state-of-the-art instruments to provide hands-on-training and the concept and exposure of the basic and advance manufacturing and shop floor techniques to the students of all engineering disciplines. In addition to meet the requirements of academic curriculum the students are also supported for developing the models and prototypes for their final year projects. The PG students are also facilitated for developing the R&D setups required for their respective fields of study. Currently, the workshop is having seven shops: Machine, Sheet-Metal, Fitting, Welding, Foundry, Smithy and Carpentry. It is supported by a team of extremely skilled operators and a very active core faculty committee members and technical staff.
MODERNIZATION
Since its establishment, the central workshop is being upgraded on timely basis inorder to cope up with the trending technology and industry needs. The latest upgradation of the workshop is in the welding section with the introduction of the State-of-The-Art professional TIG, MIG and Metal Arc welding set-up from "FRONIUS". Several other upgardations like CNC Machining center, CNC Router, Electro DIscharge Machining and Plastic Injection Moulding are on the future prospects of the institute as well.
