Procurement of Goods

An amount of Rs 9.0 Cr was allocated initially under the budget head ‘Procurement of Goods’.  Due to the satisfactory performance in terms of overall parameters by the Institute, TEQIP III of NIT Srinagar got an additional allocation in the budget head ‘Procurement of Goods’ of Rs. 0.90 Cr. The various highlights of the procurement are as under:

  1. NIT Srinagar has procured various equipments/software’s for the engineering departments under TEQIP-III. These equipments/software’s facilitate the research work of the student who were otherwise forced to go outside the Institute. The various facilities are ESSC Lab, Dynamics Lab, Communication Lab, Material research lab etc. 
  2. Language lab has been established in the Institute for all categories of students especially SC/ST and other weaker sections of the society to improve their communication skills. This has helped them to increase their self confidence & self esteem.
  3. In winter, our Institute faces a lot of power cuts, due to which Institute has procured stable power conducting equipment to overcome this problem. This has helped in achieving uninterrupted supply for carrying out research work and other activities.
  4. A State of art coating laboratory is being establishing in CRFC under Twinning Activity under TEQIP-III for the UG, PG students and Research Scholars of the Institute and of the region, for developing materials components for region, in particular, for developing implants.
  5. ASTM and BIS Standards have been procured under TEQIP III for Library in order to strengthen & increasing access to knowledge resources.
  6. Due to the high enrollment of students in the Institute and to provide them with a good workspace in laboratories, a total of 375 Tables and 500 Chairs have been procured under TEQIP III.
  7. Teaching of environment courses has mandatory in modern education for climate change at UG, PG Level. Towards this, NIT Srinagar has established Environment sustainability Study Centre.
  8. Lab spaces has been created for the equipment of CRFC under minor civil works.
